It also feels good to get back into the role of a priest. I never thought I'd love a support character; now it's hard to play anything else. It feels like putting on a well-worn glove.I'm writing this before the rest of the event, but already the excitement here has us all giddy. Getting up early tomorrow is going to be easy; I just need to make sure I have enough coffee to last!
All this past week, I've been talking about nothing but the Community Play Event. I don't just mean in the office. From dawn to dusk, during work and play, off duty and on duty, our kickoff TERA test was never far from my thoughts if not the center of my attention. Opening the doors of the game we've been working so hard on, even to a small number of players, marks a very exciting milestone in TERA's journey towards launch. And as the sun rose on Saturday morning and the first characters arrived on the Island of Dawn, it was clear that my mounting anticipation was matched by that of our Community Event Players.

I can't actually complete the Kugai quest
The runekeepers complete the next phase of the storyline quest so we saved them for last. Amareth and I take turns aggroing and smacking them around; they respond particularly well to the Berserker's Flatten ability (and by respond I mean are easily knocked down by), so we settle into a nice rhythm where Anung runs up, hits, combos for the Flatten, combos into the Cyclone, and Amareth pounds them from a distance. We wrap them up in due course and prepare to head back to the Tainted Gorge Outpost to turn in our opponent's heads. Err, runes.
I can't actually complete the Kugai quest because it turns out my inventory is full. Packrat, you might call me. When I'm several hundred gold richer the next time I go to the store we'll see who's laughing! I realize it's been a couple of levels since I upgraded my equipment so I rearrange things a little, including a new axe and an armor set that Amareth trades me for a priest's staff. I think I got the better end of that deal.

Even though this is just the starting area, looking back from whence we came, the enormity of the game world really starts to sink in. The Island of Dawn feels big, and when you look at the game map, it's really just a tiny blip. One of these days, I'm going to have to do a "run across the world" adventure and time myself.

Following Daven's orders, I approach the arcanist Klaon and ask him how I could be of best use to Lumbertown.Tera Online Gold Klaon tasks me with the responsibility of picking flowers in order for him craft a potion to help heal the sickly refugees that arrived in throngs just days ago. I'm a little disappointed with my first assignment after my victories in the Island of Dawn. I understand that this must be done for the greater good, but still hot off of my victory against the demon Karascha, I expected to take on more pressing issues.
With the human trial portion of the potion testing complete, we head past the refugee tents and cross the bridge connecting Lumbertown to the rest of Fey Forest. The land is shadowed by towering trees and populated with unfriendly warthogs. These giant boars have giant tusks and giant attitude to match. Their presence here is a clear foreshadowing of what's to come.
Almost as soon as Everon and Amareth arrive at the camp, woodsman Weldon sends us back out to collect chopped and neatly piled lumber scattered around the woods. Although the locals could feasibly collect it themselves, there's the porcine menace to consider. Audburn, another villager, asks that bring back the ribs from any warthogs we kill to supplement the outpost's food supply.
The hogs are spoiling for a fight. These monster pigs proactively attack anyone nearby and employ charges and tusk swipesTera Money depending on their distance. Between Everon's evasive maneuvers and Amareth's pain-from-afar spells, these swine are mine—I mean, ours. The lumber is a far simpler affair, locating and collecting the wood piles found under large trees.
